Come and join in the fun

The two big events of the year at The Rodney are the Beer Festival which takes place in the second week in May and the annual Firework Display on the nearest Friday to 5th November.

The Beer Festival

Little Baddow has an Open Gardens event, which is usually on the weekend after the May Day Bank Holiday every year – and The Rodney joins in with the spirit of the community by holding a Beer Festival from the Friday evening until Sunday evening.

You’ll be able to choose from 20 beers and ciders – it’s a perfect opportunity to experiment and be adventurous, try something you haven’t tasted before!

The atmosphere is festive with plenty of people settling on the benches in the beer garden and enjoying the home cooked food as well as quenching their thirst after viewing the gardens around the village. There are giant garden games to play such as Janga, dominoes, Connect4 and noughts and crosses to add to the fun.

The Annual Firework Display

This takes place close to Bonfire Night – and it’s a charity event in aid of the Essex Air Ambulance, so be prepared to give a pound or two to this very good cause.

Plenty of spectacular fireworks to watch and a reviving pint or two in the pub – or a hot cup of coffee – makes a great night out. There’s plenty to keep you warm on the inside too from English traditional favourites to the spicy flavours of Thai cuisine as well.
